Trauma-conscious Yin Yoga Facilitator Training

November 2024

Want to engage in a Yin Yoga Facilitator training that goes beyond the foundations? Join us for our comprehensive, in-depth, experiential and in-person program at The nook + take a deeper dive into your journey…

The Trauma-informed Yin Yoga Facilitator Training (YYFT) program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to become a confident and effective yin yoga facilitator. Led by experienced and qualified instructors and guest speakers - our program covers a wide range of topics and lectures, including group discussions and physical teaching practice. Expect a deep dive into teaching methodology alongside yin yoga philosophy, Chinese meridian theory, anatomy and physiology.

What makes this training unique is the trauma-informed emphasis on facilitating this practice.

This program leans into a trauma-informed approach and how to utilise the skill of language and space holding to optimise your offerings. Learn about self-regulation, Dr Porges Polyvagal Theory, the vagus nerve function, meditation, compassion and mindfulness techniques and how to provide cues of safety within yourself and for the participants in your sessions.

This training will enhance your awareness of how trauma impacts the body and how to modify your classes to create a more trauma-conscious experience and environment. We will also explore how trauma affects the body, brain and endocrine system. We will dive into our own internal perception (interoception) and discuss how body awareness and mindfulness can help form and reform identity and our sense of self. Our Advanced Yin Yoga Facilitator Training program includes talks from our physiotherapist, Psychologist and Mindfulness facilitators. This program is suitable for both experienced yoga practitioners and existing teachers and for those who might have an intellectual curiosity about trauma theory.

Please note this is not a training to become a trauma-therapist. This training will suit those interested in understanding more about trauma and its impact on the body. At completion, you will have a firm foundation on the basics of understanding what trauma is and how to build a trauma-conscious, trauma-sensitive practice. You will not be a trauma-therapist/specialist.

During the program, you will have the opportunity to deepen your own practice and learn how to teach yin yoga to others. We will support you in building a daily movement and meditation practice. You will learn how to create safe and effective sequences, modify poses for different body types and abilities, and discuss providing hands-on adjustments and modifications with participants.

Our Yin Yoga Facilitator Training program is suitable for both experienced yoga practitioners and existing teachers and for those who might not be interested in teaching but would like to use this training to deepen their own knowledge and understanding of Yin Yoga and trauma theory further.

Please also note that this course alone will not qualify you as a yoga teacher, you will need to source a basic 200hr qualification before you can safely offer yoga. You are welcome to attend this course for your own learning or as a prerequisite to a 200hr training.

We want you to get the most out of this training so our programmes are spaced out over a month! We meet every Saturday and Sunday over four consecutive weekends in November. Each day runs 9-5pm, we will have a 1hr lunch break (please note lunch is NOT provided).
